Back road project
The project aims to:
First: First: To establish an environmental tourist transport system from inside the archaeological site to outside
Second:Preserve the sustainability of the archaeological monuments inside the site and protecting them from the rainwater by finding a drainage system through the tubular and boxed culverts.
.Third: Reduce the congestion in front of the Treasury and the region of Siq
Project components:
Usually rehabilitation of the Turkmen road, which starts from Abu Aliq Gate to Umm Sihon Gate, with the necessary engineering designs for the road and culverts.
Evaluation of the environmental and social impact of the project
Project phases:
The current status of the road was assessed and studied in terms of road levels, inclination and topographical difficulties, as well as the impact of erosion, corrosion and rainfall in the region and neighboring areas.
Jordanian laws related to the project were reviewed (Environment Law, Traffic Law, Agriculture Law, Jordanian Building Code, Labor Law and Health Law).
Data on the existing environment were collected.
Social studies and archaeological surveys were conducted jointly with the Department of Antiquities, the American Center for Scientific Studies and Research and some local universities.
Work plan to monitor and develop environmental management and measure air pollution from traffic was developed.
An analysis of environmental tourism transport services was carried out and the number of visitors to the site was calculated by day, hour and number of buses we need based on this number.
Floors and pavements were designed based on the size of traffic and the loads of vehicles using the road.
Hydrological calculations were made for the water drainage and culverts were designed for this purpose.
Hydrological design for all kinds of culverts.
Analysis of the culverts flow.
A geology study was conducted to the region.
Economic feasibility studies were conducted for the project.
