Authority Achievements

Restoration of the ancient Petra church

Petra Archaeological Park launched an integrated project for the restoration of Petra Church in cooperation with the American Center in Amman. The work focused on the restoration and cleaning of some parts of the mosaic, restoration of the walls and a rainwater drainage system to preserve the mosaic floors and prevent its penetration into the Church, in addition to the treatment of moisture on some interior walls of the Church by digging the front area adjacent to the front side of the wall.

Project goals:
  • Preserve the mosaic parts of the Church.
  • Treat the moisture in the Church.
  • Establish rainwater drainage system.
