The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Dr. Fares Al-Braizat, received the U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom, Jim Holtsnider, on Saturday in Petra.
During the visit, discussions focused on prospects for joint cooperation in tourism and development, particularly in the areas of sustainable tourism, infrastructure development, and support for projects that serve the local community and enhance Petra’s standing as a world-class tourist destination.
Dr. Al-Braizat emphasized the importance of partnership with the United States, appreciating the support provided for developmental and tourism projects in the Petra region, which has a positive impact on advancing sustainable development.
For his part, the U.S. Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Petra Authority to preserve the cultural heritage of the “Rose City” and to develop its tourism offerings. He noted that during his tour of the archaeological site, he observed the extensive work being carried out in maintenance, tourism management, and improving the visitor experience.
The Ambassador also highlighted that American nationals are among the most frequent visitors to Petra, reflecting its prominent position on the global tourism map, and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continued cooperation and support with Jordan in various tourism and development fields
