اجراءات للحد من التحديات التي تعانيها البترا الأثرية
Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Chief Commissioner Mohammad Abbas Nawafleh on Sunday said the authority is “serious” in introducing positive
changes to the ancient city of Petra.
During a tour of the site, Nawafleh said the PDTRA will take decisions to put an end to violations at the city.
Many violations, he said, have harmed Petra’s reputation as a tourist attraction.
Nawafleh cited child labour, the unregulated use of horses and camels, and the abuse of ancient caves in the area as some of the major challenges to the PDTRA’s work.
After the visit, he directed the concerned officials to evacuate the caves being used for storage and residential purposes
